State Revises Watering Restrictions
Georgia Department of Natural Resources Director Carol Couch has declared that the entire state of Georgia is now under a non-drought schedule for outdoor water use. Outdoor water use is now allowed three days a week on assigned days using odd and even-numbered addresses.

• Odd-numbered addresses can water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
• Even-numbered and unnumbered addresses can water on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
• There is no watering allowed on Fridays.

Residents may water at any time of the day on the assigned days, but the City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management urges residents not to water between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when evaporation can create water loss without a corresponding benefit to landscaping. The City also reminds customers that droughts are cyclical, and Georgians can expect another one at some point in the future. Customers are urged to continue the conservation efforts that allowed the City to cut its water use by 10 percent over the last year.

Under the new declaration, the City has resumed sale of irrigation meters, which bill only water, and not sewer, charges. For more information, contact Joe Murray at 404-330-6091.

Remember: Conservation should not be a reaction to circumstances; it should be a way of life. Clean water is a very precious resource, and it should be treated that way.
