Protect Atlanta's Trees

Atlanta's majestic trees are a signature natural feature of our city. Did you know that they also provide many environmental benefits? Trees help slow down storm-water and prevent flooding and erosion, they help remove pollutants from the air, and they convert carbon dioxide into the oxygen we breathe. That's why Atlanta's tree protection ordinance prohibits removing trees from public property without a permit and requires that you obtain a permit before removing any tree (over six inches in diameter) from private property.

Permits for removing dead, dying, or hazardous trees are free of charge and can be requested online at https://aca.accela.com/Atlanta_Ga/Default.aspx or from the Arborist Division at 404.865- 8487. To learn more, please visit the Tree Conservation Commission's new website at www. atlantatreecommission.com.
