DWM Offers Rain Barrel Options

Rain barrels can be an excellent source of supplemental water for gardens, lawns, and other outdoor watering needs. Rain barrels can be purchased at hardware stores and other businesses that cater to outdoor activities such as gardening and landscaping. Individuals can also build their own rain barrels. To assist those who’d like to build a rain barrel, DWM offers two options:

1) Go to www.atlantawatershed.org, and click on Build Your Own Rain Barrel System. Follow the online instructions to build your own rain barrel.

2) Call or email Yolanda Boazman (404-546-1262, ydboazman@atlantaga.gov) to register for an on-site rain barrel workshop on Wednesday, August 12. The workshop requires a $40 donation to DWM’s Care & Conserve Program. Participants will assemble and paint their own rain barrels, which are theirs to keep. Lunch is included. Participants must register in advance.
