Take Care of Your Heart

As the leading cause of death for men and women, heart disease kills an estimated 630,000 Americans every year. February is American Heart Month. The City of Atlanta and the American Heart Association urge you to make minor lifestyle changes that will contribute to a healthy heart. Reduce fat in your diet; limit your alcohol intake; quit smoking; get moderate exercise; manage stress; and DRINK WATER! Replacing one soda or cup of coffee per day with a glass of water can help.

Remember, you are at a higher risk of heart disease if you:
• are a man 45 years old or older,
• are a woman 55 years old or older; or
• have a family history of heart-related problems.
