Bureau of Drinking Water

Administrative Offices - 651 14th Street, Atlanta GA.

The Bureau of Drinking Water, under Deputy Commissioner Chris Hebberd, oversees all aspects of the water system, including raw water supply, treatment, distribution and water quality compliance. The Bureau currently is implementing an automated meter reading program, providing for regular testing and repair of large meters, and expanding water service repairs, all of which will positively affect service delivery and water and wastewater revenues.

Water Quality and Compliance

Atlanta’s drinking water has won national awards for its quality, clarity and taste. The Department of Watershed Management must provide well over 750 samples per month to the State of Georgia for analysis of lead and copper, bacteria, turbidity, and 21 other contaminants to assure water quality.
