Stream Bank Bioengineering and Stabilization Program
Purpose of the Project
• Stabilize and revegetate eroding streambanks
• Prevent further damage downstream
• Protect utility pipes that run along some streams
• Increase wildlife habitat in and along streams
• Protect streams from pollution in runoff
• Improve the appearance of stabilized streambanks
• Provide resources and information to residents interested in protecting and stabilizing streams on their property.
Project Locations:
The stabilization projects that the City will be implementing will be on city-owned property, but one of the goals of this program is to forge cooperative alliances between the City of Atlanta, neighborhood and regional watershed groups, non-profit groups and other government agencies in order to stabilize and protect as many miles of degraded streambanks as possible.
