Soil & Erosion Control

Loose soil from construction sites or resulting from tree and vegetation removal (erosion) is washed into local streams and waterways when it rains. Soil is considered a water pollutant because it clouds water and may affect the habitat of aquatic life. It is critical that proper soil and erosion control be practiced during any land-disturbing activities. Silk screens, hay bales and other inexpensive methods help to prevent serious water quality damage. If you notice an abundance of loose soil washing into storm drains or see inadequate control at a construction site, call 404-546-1300.
