The
Department of Watershed Management welcomes your business! We have provided
these guidelines to assist you in establishing water service with the
City of Atlanta. It is important to follow these guidelines exactly so
that we may establish your service promptly, so if you have any questions,
please call our Customer Service office at 404.658.6500.
Purchasing a meter inside the city limits:
To purchase a meter, please visit our Meter Application Division at City Hall, 55 Trinity Avenue, S.W., Suite
5400 and complete a new service application.
A copy of your building permit should be submitted
with the application.
If your meter is three inches (3")
or more, you will also need to submit a utility drawing with the
application.
If a property requires a meter 3" and
larger and is located across the street from the water main, the
street must be checked for casing and boring. In this case, the City
will perform an on-site inspection that must be completed before
the meter can be purchased.
If the water main is located across the street from
the property, a right-of-way repair charge will be assessed, payable
to the Department of Public Works and due at time of meter purchase
along with meter fees.
Separate payments will be needed for meter purchase
and right-of-way repair fees. The City accepts cash, checks (personal
or business), credit/debit cards (Visa and MasterCard) and money
orders.
Applications are processed and approved within 30
to 90 days. Be sure to allow yourself adequate time so that service
is available when needed.
