Boulevard CSO Regulator

The Boulevard CSO Regulator Facility is located at 1136 Boulevard, SE in a residential area. Constructed in the mid-1980s, the Boulevard CSO Regulator Facility is one of two CSO Regulator Facilities that serves an east area combined sewershed (the Loyd Street and Grant Park combined subbasins) and has a maximum overflow capacity of 2,295 million gallons per day (MGD). The other CSO Regulator Facility is the Confederate Avenue CSO Regulator Facility. Together, the Boulevard and Confederate CSO Regulator Facilities divert screened dry weather flow to existing interceptors (48-inch (Boulevard)) that first lead to the Intrenchment Creek WRC and then to the South River WRC. When flow exceeds the interceptor capacity (20 mgd for the Boulevard CSO Regulator), control gates on the interceptors close and the CSO is directed to the Custer CSO Facility via an open concrete conveyance channel. Sodium hypochlorite (bleach) is added prior to flow discharge into the conveyance channels. The conveyance channels from the Boulevard and Confederate CSO Regulator Facilities merge into one prior to entering the Custer CSO facility.
