Greensferry CSO
The Greensferry CSO Facility is located at 175 Stafford Street in
a residential area. Constructed in 1994, the Greensferry CSO
Facility is a West Area CSO facility, serving a combined sewershed
of approximately 746.0 acres, with a maximum overflow
capacity of 1,340 million gallons per day (mgd). Dry weather
flow is routed to a 24-inch Proctor Creek
trunk which then pumps flow to the R.M. Clayton WRC or the Utoy
Creek WRC. Wet weather flow that exceeds the capacity
of the interceptor is diverted to the CSO facility for treatment
prior to discharge to Proctor Creek. Existing treatment consists
of coarse screening, fine screening, and disinfection by sodium
hypochlorite. The sodium hypochlorite injection occurs upstream
of the Greensferry CSO Facility to provide
for proper disinfection and for minimized chlorine residual prior
to discharge to a tributary of Proctor Creek. The
injection point also assures that all CSO, both screened and unscreened
(bypassed),
is disinfected.
