Intrenchment Creek CSO
The Intrenchment Creek CSO Treatment Plant (CSOTP)
Facility is located at 1510 Key Road in a primarily
industrial area. Operation at the Intrenchment Creek CSOTP commenced
in 1983 and upon commencement, this facility became part of a larger
East Area CSO network that includes the Boulevard and Confederate
CSO Regulator Facilities, the McDaniel CSO facility, Custer CSO
Facility, and the Intrenchment Creek CSO Storage Tunnel. Flow to
the Intrenchment Creek CSOTP results directly from upstream CSO
events at the Custer Avenue Facility. Flow from the Custer Avenue
Facility is first diverted to the Intrenchment Creek Storage Tunnel.
The storage tunnel is designed to capture and store the first 30
to 34 million gallons of wet weather flow. A 20-million gallon
per day (mgd) dewatering pump station is located at the tunnel
terminus to dewater the tunnel system and route the stored flow
to the Intrenchment
Creek CSOTP for physical and chemical treatment. Dry weather flow
from the Intrenchment Creek CSOTP is routed to
the Intrenchment Creek WRC for further treatment. Wet weather overflow
from the Intrenchment Creek CSOTP is screened, grit and solids
are removed, and flow is disinfected prior to discharge to Intrenchment
Creek.
