Facilities
Tanyard Creek CSOThe Tanyard Creek CSO Facility is located at 155 Loring Drive on a small site at the boundary of the Loring Heights residential area, and is bounded by I-75 to the east and Deering Road to the south. Constructed in 1994, the Tanyard Creek CSO Facility serves a west area combined sewershed of approximately 1,955 acres and has a maximum overflow capacity of 3,600 mgd. Incoming flow is brought to the facility and dry weather flow is routed to the 48-inch Orme Street interceptor that leads to the RM Clayton WRC. Wet weather flow is routed through the CSO facility for treatment and then released to a concrete discharge channel that is approximately 0.8 mile long, extends under I-75, and ultimately leads to Tanyard Creek. Existing treatment at the Tanyard Creek CSO Facility consists of coarse screening, fine screening, and disinfection by sodium hypochlorite to kill bacteria and other pathogens. As part of the short-term remedial measures initiatives, the location of hypochlorite dosing will be moved upstream of the facility to allow for more contact time between the hypochlorite and CSO. |
