IRRIGATION REFUND VERIFICATION
During an assessment of water and sewer accounts, the Department of Watershed Management determined that some customers were inadvertently overbilled for usage due to an incorrect irrigation billing rate applied between July 1, 2008 and September 30, 2010.
Only irrigation customers with usage of 7 ccfs or greater were affected by this error. The error was corrected and a refund check is being provided for the amount overbilled plus 7% interest accrued from July 1, 2008 through November 30, 2012, and any penalties (late fees) that affected customers may have incurred as a result of this occurrence.
The Department of Watershed Management apologizes for the inconvenience caused and intends to make all affected irrigation customers whole in a fair and transparent manner.
Please note that refund monies that remain unclaimed for five years will be remitted to the State of Georgia pursuant to the Disposition of Unclaimed Property Act, O.C.G.A. § 44-12-191 et seq.
