Liquid Assets: the Story of Our Water Infrastructure

We encourage you to watch the PBS documentary "Liquid Assets: the Story
of Our Water Infrastructure" which includes segments on Atlanta's Clean
Water Atlanta program. Water infrastructure plays a critical role in
protecting public health, promoting economic prosperity and ensuring
quality of life across the United States. Though largely out of sight
and out of mind, many of these complex systems are aging, neglected and
in need of immediate local and national attention. "Liquid Assets" seeks
to facilitate national and local discussion about the urgent challenges
facing our water infrastructure, through a television documentary and
companion outreach education materials available at
www.liquidassets.psu.edu.

"Liquid Assets" tells the story of essential infrastructure systems:
drinking water, wastewater and stormwater. These complex and aging
systems - some in the ground for more than 100 years - are critical for
basic sanitation, public safety, economic development, and a host of
other necessities of life. Liquid Assets" presents stories from
communities across the United States to help provide an understanding of
hidden water infrastructure assets, demonstrate watershed protection
approaches and illustrate 21st century solutions. Mayor Shirley
Franklin, DWM Commissioner Rob Hunter and Upper Chattahoochee
Riverkeeper Sally Bethea appear to tell the Atlanta story.

In Atlanta, we have 2 PBS stations which will air this documentary. In
November, "Liquid Assets" will air on Sunday, November 9th at 6:00 PM on
the GPB digital channel "GPB Knowledge" (Channel 8.3 for digital or
cable subscribers)*. In December, WPBA channel 30 will air "Liquid
Assets" on regular TV on December 16th at 9:30 pm. More information on
scheduling can be found on the Atlanta PBS stations websites:

*Note: "GPB Knowledge" is a digital broadcast service available over the
air to any Georgian with a digital television set or a converter box on
an older analog set. In the Atlanta area it can be found on channel 8.3
(channel 8.1 is the traditional GPB service). Elsewhere in the state it
can be found at .3 of the local GPB transmitter channel. A television
receiver doesn't have to be high definition to get GPB Knowledge, just
digital. "GPB Knowledge" has been on the air since August, focusing on
information and education programming. Charlie Rose, BBC World News,
CEO Exchange, as well as rebroadcasts of The News Hour with Jim Lehrer
and Nightly Business Report are all available on GPB Knowledge.
