Downtown Water Storage Tanks & Pump Station & Upgrades at Hemphill Pump Station

NPU: L                                      Council District: 3

What You Need To Know

The City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management (DWM) is working to improve the reliability of the water distribution system in downtown Atlanta by constructing a water storage tank and making upgrades to the Hemphill Pump Station. Power outages, nearby water main breaks, and local firefighting activities can cause unstable water pressure for most customers in the downtown area. In addition, a short term outage at the Hemphill Water Treatment Plant or the adjacent Hemphill Pumping Station can cause immediate pressure losses, and potential issuance of boil-water advisories for most of the downtown business area.
