Atlanta’s drinking water system meets or exceed standards established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as required by the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act year after year. And throughout the years, Watershed Management (DWM) continues its efforts to rehabilitate the City’s drinking water infrastructure in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. Join DWM this week as we highlight the importance of providing safe clean drinking water to our customers and stakeholders, and the men and women who serve on the frontlines everyday to assure the delivery of good, clean drinking water!

Taste the Tap: Consistent and Reliable

Have you ever stopped to think about the vital role tap water plays in your daily life? Whether it’s to cool off after a workout or clean fruits and veggies for a snack, your drinking water is there when you need it for hygiene, cooking or drinking!

Water utilities in the United States are required to monitor for more than 100 contaminants on a regular basis. More than 94 percent of U.S. drinking water utilities are in full compliance with health-based federal regulations annually, meaning that nearly all public water supplies in the United States meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s standards for safe drinking water.

2. Better for the environment – Tap water is effectively transported to your home with little environmental impact other than the water you take from nature. With bottled water it takes about 2-3 liters of water to produce every liter.
