Quality Infrastructure Services Delivered Amid Critical Customer Care Needs
Infrastructure services like water and sewer, electricity and gas, transportation, telephone, and broadband are essential to everyday life, but they are not always affordable to households. The economic impacts of COVID-19 have only exacerbated affordability challenges and created an additional barrier to economic opportunity. While 32 states have enacted emergency orders to bar utility shutoffs, many are set to expire soon, leaving millions of American households in dire circumstances.

  • Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms continued to demonstrate her commitment to Watershed to assist Atlanta residents and businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic by directing the Department of Watershed Management (DWM) to refrain from taking any action which would result in the termination of water services to any DWM customer due to non-payment.

  • DYK: DWM has a Care and Conserve Program that is designed to offer financial assistance to ratepayers who are having difficulty paying their water and sewer bills. Assistance can only be granted once within a two-year period, and eligibility is determined primarily by income and household size. For more information on the Care & Conserve program, call 404-546-3620.

MAKE IT FOR EVERYONE
Infrastructure and the Equity Opportunity
12:00 PM–1:30 PM

Few aspects of modern American life are as systemic as infrastructure, and access to affordable, safe, reliable infrastructure – from water to transportation to the internet and more – remains a stark example of the systemic inequality and racism that pervades too many communities across America. Join this conversation with eminent leaders as they frame equity challenges and discuss ways to break down barriers and create new opportunities through new planning, services, and policy.

DWM Celebrates Our Infrastructure Heroes
The COVID pandemic disrupted practically every aspect of our lives in 2020. In spite of the many challenges, DWM remains committed and prepared to respond to our customers’ needs and to provide the same level of trusted and quality service you expect and deserve.

More than 17 million American’s infrastructure heroes have shown incredible courage and dedication to our communities through the global pandemic. The Watershed workforce has kept water flowing to our homes, our supply chains moving, transported other essential workers to their jobs on busses, trains, and along highway. Thank you to the hundreds of DWM crew members who continue to report to work day-in and day-out to deliver quality water service.

The Value of Water Campaign Presents:
MEETING THE MOMENT: THE URGENCY AND OPPORTUNITY TO INVEST IN WATER SYSTEMS
11:00 AM–12:00 PM

American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) released its quadrennial report card for America’s infrastructure that indicates there are still serious deficiencies in the nation’s drinking water systems. Hear from expert voices on the scale and scope of our water infrastructure challenges, the unprecedented $111 billion proposed by the Biden administration to make what would be a historic commitment to water infrastructure and a specific commitment to removing lead from water.

Watershed Management Building Infrastructure that support a Growing City
Infrastructure needs aren’t stopping, and neither is DWM. #LeadWithInfrastructure means being intentional in investing in resilient infrastructure that can help communities thrive even as a changing climate presents challenges of flooding from heavy rain events, severe storms, wildfires, and more pressures on fragile infrastructure systems like widespread emergencies.
