TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Lane Closures on Peachtree Street NW Due to Sewer Work

 

What: Lane closures due to point repair on the sanitary sewer main

Where: One northbound lane and one southbound lane on Peachtree Street will be closed between Baker Street and Harris Street/John Portman Boulevard

When:  Beginning Monday, March 18, 2019 from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Lasting for approximately two weeks.

 

Comments: Crews will perform a point repair on the sewer main which will result in lane closures. Work began Monday, March 18, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will last approximately two weeks. The road will be closed until the work is completed. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected, as sidewalks will be open.

Traffic control officers, flaggers and signage will be in place to guide motorists and pedestrians around the work zone. Residents and businesses will continue to have access to mail and package delivery, emergency services and trash pick-up. Motorists are urged to use caution and to avoid the area if possible.

 

Detour: Drivers traveling north on Peachtree Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic prior to the traffic light at Baker Street. Once across the Peachtree Street/Baker Street intersection traffic will resume normal operation.

Traffic traveling south on Peachtree Street will be merged to one lane before reaching Baker Street. A traffic control officer will then direct traffic to merge into the left northbound lane. Southbound traffic will be merged back to normal operation drivers reach a safe distance from the work zone. Traffic on Baker Street can continue Westbound or turn North (right turn) or South (left turn) onto Peachtree Street.
