Department of Watershed Management Establishes Payment Agreement with Sierra Ridge Apartments

ATLANTA – The Department of Watershed Management announced today that an agreement has been reached with the Sierra Ridge apartment complex owner that allows their water service to remain active. Sierra Ridge has paid the City $133,000 of its outstanding balance and made a commitment to pay the rest by year’s end.

On July 31, the City of Atlanta informed Sierra Ridge that its water service would be disconnected as a result of the current complex owner’s nonpayment of $270,000 in outstanding bills incurred since April 2016.

The City of Atlanta has been committed to working with the complex to rectify the matter. During the reconciliation process, the City of Atlanta did not suspend water service. In addition, the Department of Constituent Services coordinated services for the families that needed relocation assistance during this period.

“Our department works every day to provide reliable, high quality water service, and to deliver excellent customer service to our customers,” said Deputy Commissioner Mohamed Balla. “We have been in constant communication with the property owner of Sierra Ridge to resolve this matter, and were able to establish a payment agreement which will enable the account to stay active.”
