The City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management Earns Top Utility Management Award   

ATLANTA – The Department of Watershed Management is honored to receive the Sustainable Water Utility Management Award from the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA). The award recognizes water utilities committed to management that achieves a balance of innovative and successful efforts in the areas of economic, social and environmental endeavors.

The City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management attributes this honor to its Strategic Plan, which serves as a blueprint to ensure a sustainable and modern water infrastructure through an on-going five-year, $1.2 billion capital improvement program, but most importantly the hard work and dedication of the Watershed Workforce.

“We are honored and proud to be amongst the winners of this prestigious award,” said Commissioner Powell. “The Department is committed to projects and initiatives that will meet the highest levels of sustainability and support Atlanta’s goal to become a top-tier sustainable city through green infrastructure, sustainability and conservation. It is our goal to ensure that our efforts will have an impact that will preserve one of our most precious resources for generations to come.”
