Traffic Advisory: Construction to Close Vine City Streets Starting Monday

TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Construction to Close Vine City Streets Starting Monday

What:         Road closures in preparation for the Upper Proctor Creek Capacity Relief Project:

                      Rodney Cook, Sr. Park in Historic Vine City construction

Where:     Vine Street NW between Joseph E. Boone Boulevard NW and Thurmond Street NW

Rock Street NW between Vine Street NW and Walnut Street NW

Tyler Street NW between Vine Street NW and 593 Tyler Street NW

Thurmond Street NW between Elm Street NW and Vine Street NW

When:       Starting Monday, Nov. 13.

Comments:  Crews will begin initial site preparation for construction of the capacity relief pond in Rodney Cook, Sr. Park, requiring the closure of Vine, Tyler, Thurmond and Rock streets.  Traffic control measures will be in place to guide motorists around construction zone.  Motorists are advised to use caution and avoid the area if possible.

The Upper Proctor Creek Capacity Relief Project in Rodney Cook, Sr. Park is designed to help alleviate flooding while providing increased greenspace in Vine City.  The project is slated for completion in December 2018.
