DWM Wins Top Awards from Georgia Association of Water Professionals

DWM facilities acknowledged for ensuring treatment and
delivery of high quality drinking water

ATLANTA – The City of Atlanta’s Department of Watershed Management (DWM) has received top honors from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP), earning both a Gold and a Platinum Award.

The Hemphill Water Treatment Plant was awarded Platinum, and the Chattahoochee Water Treatment Plant received Gold, both for achieving zero violations in Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCL), National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits, and pretreatment standards throughout 2024. The awards were presented at the 2025 GAWP Spring Conference & Expo in Columbus.

“I am extremely proud of the DWM staff at these award-winning facilities and their commitment to Mayor Dickens’ vision of Moving Atlanta Forward,” said DWM Commissioner Greg Eyerly. “We look forward to continue working with GAWP as we work to improve our infrastructure to make Atlanta a City Built for the Future.”

Established in 1932, GAWP provides education and training on drinking water and wastewater treatment, water resources and stormwater management, water conservation, utility management and customer service, and the broad realm of activities required to responsibly manage Georgia water resources.
