NEWS RELEASE

City of Atlanta Monitoring Water Pressures Throughout Service Area
Department of Watershed Management Anticipates Conditions Will Improve

ATLANTA – Below freezing temperatures have caused water main breaks and frozen water pipes on private properties throughout the Atlanta service area. Thus far, DWM have found no issues with the transmission mains within the service area, which include the South Fulton area.

DWM continues to address confirmed water main breaks within our water system. We are encouraging our wholesale customers within the South Fulton area to address their service areas as well. We have no confirmed issues with our transmission mains preventing delivery of water to the South Fulton area. DWM will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Customers are encouraged to take the necessary precautions during freezing temperatures to protect their pipes. For example, insulating pipes and disconnecting water hoses from outdoor faucets can help prevent pipes from bursting and save money from costly repairs.

For additional tips, customers can view our Cold Weather Preparedness video at https://youtu.be/SIpCqajyEmY, and follow DWM on social media @ATLWatershed for continuous updates and helpful information.
