Department of Watershed Management Receives Gold Awards by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals

DWM facilities acknowledged for ensuring treatment and delivery of high quality drinking water, as well as collection and reclamation of wastewater to a high standard

Atlanta – The City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management was recently honored with three Gold Awards from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP). The Chattahoochee and Hemphill Water Treatment Plants, and the Utoy Creek Water Reclamation Center, were recognized for having no permit violations in the 2020 calendar year for Maximum Containment Levels (MCLs) and the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination (NPDES), or pretreatment violations.

“I am extremely proud of the staff at these award-winning facilities and their commitment to our mission, vision, and values,” said DWM Commissioner Mikita Browning. “We look forward to continue working with GAWP as we distinguish ourselves as leaders in innovation, service, and value.”

Established in 1932, GAWP provides education and training on drinking water and wastewater treatment, water resources and stormwater management, water conservation, utility management and customer service, and the broad realm of activities required to responsibly manage Georgia water resources.
