What:  Road closure due to emergency point repair on sewer line

Where:   Memorial Drive SE will be closed to through traffic between Pearl Street SE and Chester Avenue SE

When:   Friday, June 22, 2018 beginning at 7 a.m.

Comments:  UPDATE – Due to wet conditions, there was a work delay. Work is now underway and crews are performing a point repair on hole that formed at the top of a 42 by 48-inch brick sewer main resulting in closure of the road. Work will continue 24-hours each day until the repair is complete.

Traffic control measures and flaggers will be in place to guide motorists around the work zone. Residents and businesses will continue to have access to mail and package delivery, emergency services and trash pick-up. Motorists are urged to use caution and to avoid the area if possible.     

Detour:

Memorial Dr. eastbound

• If traveling East on Memorial Dr., motorists will turn right onto Pearl St. and travel south
• Turn left onto Old Flat Shoals Rd SE and travel northeast to Chester Ave. SE
• Turn left onto Chester Ave. SE and travel north to Memorial Dr. SE and turn right

Memorial Dr. westbound

• If traveling west on Memorial Dr., motorists will turn left onto Chester Ave. SE and travel south
• Turn right onto Old Flat Shoals Rd SE and travel southwest to Pearl St. SE
• Turn right onto Pearl St. SE and travel north to Memorial Dr. SE and turn left
